How do I add a Milesight Gateway?
Adding a Milesight Gateway in cThings Cloud involves two stages:
Stage 1: Create the Gateway in cThings Cloud.
Stage 2: Add a new destination on the Milesight dashboard.
To create a new Gateway in cThings Cloud, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Network Nodes page by clicking Network in the menu on the left-hand side.
Click New Network Node in the top-right corner of the page.

Select Gateway.

Choose Milesight as the Gateway manufacturer.

Select the relevant Milesight product.
E.g Milesight UG65.

Name: Give the Gateway a descriptive name.
Serial Number: Copy the serial number from the Milesight dashboard – found under Serial Number (see screenshot below).
Parent Asset: Select the Asset under which to add your Gateway.
Provider: Select the Gateway Provider.
Click Next.


Network Server: Select AWS IoT LoRaWAN.
Gateway EUI: Find this in the Milesight dashboard by clicking Packet Forwarder from the left-hand menu and copying the Gateway EUI (See screenshot below).
Gateway Profile: Select EU868 as the gateway profile.
Click Next.


Review the details on the summary page
Click Create Node to create the Gateway
Once the network node is set up in cThings Cloud, you next need to add a new destination on the Milesight dashboard.
Before adding a new destination, make sure to disable any existing ones to prevent conflicts.
Go to the Milesight dashboard.
Click Packet Forwarder from the left-hand menu.
Click the plus (+) button to add a new destination.

Select Basic Station as the destination type.

Go to the newly created Gateway on cThings cloud.
Click Network Node in the top right hand corner of the page.
Then select Generate Certificates from the dropdown menu.
Copy the CUPS URI and paste it into the URI input on the Milesight dashboard
Click the Download Certificates button.

Change the file ending in .server_certificate.pem to .server_certificate.trust.
Change the file ending in .gateway_certificate.pem to .gateway_certificate.crt.
CA File (.trust): Click Browse, then select the *.trust file.
Client Certificate File (.crt): Click Browse, then select the *.crt file.
Client Key File (.key): Click Browse, then select the *.key file.
After selecting each file, click the Import button to upload it, then click Save.

Click Save and Apply to save all your changes.

You’ve successfully added a Milesight Gateway on cThings Cloud. The Gateway is now ready to use and can be managed from the Networks page.

Create the Gateway in cThings Cloud
To create a new Gateway in cThings Cloud, follow these steps:
1. Create a new Network Node
Navigate to the Network Nodes page by clicking Network in the menu on the left-hand side.
Click New Network Node in the top-right corner of the page.

2. Select the type of Network Node
Select Gateway.

3. Select the Gateway Manufacturer
Choose Milesight as the Gateway manufacturer.

4. Select the Gateway Product
Select the relevant Milesight product.
E.g Milesight UG65.

5. Enter the required details
Name: Give the Gateway a descriptive name.
Serial Number: Copy the serial number from the Milesight dashboard – found under Serial Number (see screenshot below).
Parent Asset: Select the Asset under which to add your Gateway.
Provider: Select the Gateway Provider.
Click Next.


6. Navigate to the LoRa tab and configure the following:
Network Server: Select AWS IoT LoRaWAN.
Gateway EUI: Find this in the Milesight dashboard by clicking Packet Forwarder from the left-hand menu and copying the Gateway EUI (See screenshot below).
Gateway Profile: Select EU868 as the gateway profile.
Click Next.


7. Create the Gateway

Adding a new destination on the Milesight dashboard
Once the network node is set up in cThings Cloud, you next need to add a new destination on the Milesight dashboard.
Before adding a new destination, make sure to disable any existing ones to prevent conflicts.
1. Add a new Destination
Go to the Milesight dashboard.
Click Packet Forwarder from the left-hand menu.
Click the plus (+) button to add a new destination.

2. Select Destination type
Select Basic Station as the destination type.

3. Copy the CUPS URI and generate Gateway certificates on cThings Cloud
Go to the newly created Gateway on cThings cloud.
Click Network Node in the top right hand corner of the page.
Then select Generate Certificates from the dropdown menu.
Copy the CUPS URI and paste it into the URI input on the Milesight dashboard
Click the Download Certificates button.

4. Rename the downloaded certificate files as follows:
Change the file ending in .server_certificate.pem to .server_certificate.trust.
Change the file ending in .gateway_certificate.pem to .gateway_certificate.crt.
5. Upload the certificates to the Milesight dashboard by selecting the correct files for each input
CA File (.trust): Click Browse, then select the *.trust file.
Client Certificate File (.crt): Click Browse, then select the *.crt file.
Client Key File (.key): Click Browse, then select the *.key file.
After selecting each file, click the Import button to upload it, then click Save.

6. Save your changes
Click Save and Apply to save all your changes.

Conclusion
