# How do I create a new device

Creating a new device in **cThings Cloud** allows you to manage and monitor devices seamlessly. This guide will walk you through the process step-by-step, ensuring your device is set up correctly.

|| To create a new device, you must have the **Device Administrator** role with the necessary permissions.

## Steps to Create a New Device

###### Access the Devices Page
* Navigate to the **Devices** page in **cThings Cloud** by clicking **Devices** from the menu on the left-hand side.
* Click the **New Device** button in the top-right corner. This will open the device creation process in a modal window.

###### Select the Device Type
* Choose the **type of device** you are setting up.
* Click **Next** to proceed.

###### Select Device Manufacturer
* Choose the **Device Manufacturer** from the list, or search for it if needed.

###### Select the Device Type
* Use the search bar to find and select the **Type of Device** from the table.
* Click **Next** to proceed.

###### Setup Device Details
* **Device Name**: Enter the name of the device.
* **Serial Number**: Input the device's unique serial number.
* **Data Interval**: Enter how often the device should send its data (e.g., every 5 minutes, hourly, etc.).
* **Status**: Toggle the status to **Active** or **Inactive**.
* Click **Next** to continue.

###### Add Asset Details
* Select the **Parent Asset** for the device.
* Provider: select the device provider
* Choose the between a **New** or **Existing** **Service Point.**
       - If **Existing** is selected, choose the desired service point from the dropdown menu.
* Click **Next** to proceed.

###### Configure Communication Information
* Set the **Communication Information** for your device.
* Click next

||| Depending on your choices, you’ll either go to the summary page or move on to networking configuration.

###### Set Networking Information

|| This step may not always appear. Depending on your previous selections, you might be taken directly to the summary page instead.

Configure the following networking settings:
* **Product**: Select the **Network Relay** used to send data.
* **Network Server**: Choose the **Network Server** to process data.

Depending on the **Network Server** you select, you may need to provide the following details:
* ** Dev EUI**: Enter the unique identifier for the device in this format: `00 FF EE DD CC BB AA 11`.
* **App Key**: Input the application key in this format: `00 11 22 33 44 55 66 77 88 99 AA BB CC DD EE FF`.
* **App EUI**: Provide the application EUI in this format: `00 FF EE DD CC BB AA 11`.
* **Relay Profile**: Specify the relay profile if required.

* Once all necessary information is entered, click **Next** to proceed.

###### Review and Create Device
* Review the summary page that displays the details of your new device.
* If necessary, edit any section before finalising by clicking on the pencil icon.
* When satisfied, click **Create Device** to complete the process.

###### Verify the Device
* You will be redirected to the new **Device** page.
