This guide will walk you through the steps to create an alert and customise it with conditions, schedules, and notifications.
Creating a new alert in cThings Cloud is quick and straightforward. The process allows you to define when and how notifications are triggered, track alert states, and control sharing preferences. Follow the steps below to set up a new alert tailored to your needs.
Navigate to the Alerts page in cThings Cloud by clicking alerts from the menu on the left-hand side.
Click the New Alert button in the top-right corner. This opens the alert creation process in a modal window.
Enter a name for your alert in the Name field.
Select how often you want to be notified using the Notify dropdown. The default option is Always, meaning you’ll receive notifications for every occurrence of the alert condition.
Toggle the Track Alert State option to create a Smart Device for tracking (ON, additional charges may apply) or disable tracking (OFF).
- If Track Alert State is ON, select the Smart Device asset from the dropdown to track the alert’s state over time.
Choose your sharing preferences: Myself only (visible to you), My organisation only (shared within your organisation), or My organisation & sub-organisations (shared with your organisation and its sub-organisations).
Click the Add Alert button to create your alert.

Select the attribute the device tracks, such as temperature, battery level, or signal strength.
Operator: How the attribute is compared (e.g., More than, Less than, Equal to).
Threshold Value: The value that triggers the alert.
To trigger an alert when the temperature exceeds 30°C:
- Set the Operator to “More than”
- Set the Threshold Value to “30”
Click the Add Condition button to create your alert condition.
Adding a schedule to an alert lets you control when it is active. Follow these steps:
If no schedule is added, the alert will remain active at all times
