How can I replace an existing meter?
If you have replaced a meter, you will need to update cThings Cloud to ensure data continues to load.
Replacing an existing device
Navigate to the new device
- Navigate to the new device page and open the Device dropdown menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Move from the list.
Select the asset of the device to be replaced
- Search for the asset where the original (old) meter is currently installed.
- Select the asset to which to move the new Device
Select the service point to move the device to
- Identify the device to be replaced.
- Click on the device.
Replacing the device
- Click on Replace Device to replace the old device with the new device
Select the replacement date
- Choose the date the physical replacement occurred on-site.
- This ensures the timeline of data collection remains consistent.
Confirming the replacement
- Click Replace Device to save and apply the device replacement.
Ensure the replacement has taken place
- After the update, both devices will appear under the same asset
- The new device will be marked as active.
- The old device will be shown as deactivated.
- Historical data for the deactivated device remains accessible in the platform.
