How do I create a new Asset

An asset is a key part of the hierarchy in cThings Cloud. It helps you stay organised by allowing you to group devices under an asset. This guide will walk you through the process of creating a new asset.

Steps to Create a New Asset

Access the Hierarchy Page

Navigate to the Hierarchy page in cThings Cloud by clicking Hierarchy from the menu on the left-hand side.
Click the New Asset button in the top-right corner. This will open the asset creation process in a modal window.

Enter Asset Details

The first page of the asset creation process is where you enter the basic details for your asset.
Asset Name: Choose a recognisable name for your asset to help identify it easily.
Asset Type: Select the asset type that best represents your asset.
Parent Asset: Choose a parent asset from the dropdown menu, if applicable. This allows your new asset to be organised under an existing asset.
Use Parent Address: If ticked, will autofill the address of the parent asset for your new asset.
Once you have entered these details, click Next.

The parent’s address will be prefilled, and you can make any necessary changes here.
If you did not tick Use Parent Address, you will need to manually choose the address for the new asset. You can select it from a dropdown menu or from the map.
Once you have entered these details, click Next.

Review Asset Details

On the final page, you will see a summary of your new asset's details.
