How do I link a pulse counter device?
Configuring a pulse counter in cThings Cloud ensures accurate measurement and tracking of pulse-based readings, such as water or gas meters. Follow the steps below to set up your pulse counter correctly.
Before configuring the pulse counter, you must create the meter that will be linked to it. If you haven’t done this yet, follow our guide on How to create a new device.
Navigate to the Pulse Counter device page
Click Devices in the left-hand menu.
Search for and select your Pulse Counter device.
Access the configuration settings
On the pulse counter device page, click "Device" in the top-right corner.
Select "Edit Configuration" from the dropdown menu.
Enter the required details
Pulse Ratio – Input the pulse ratio value in the first field on the right-hand column (e.g. 10 pulses per 1 unit of measure).
Initial Read – Enter the initial reading of the linked meter (e.g. 653240).
Meter Serial – Provide the serial number of the meter you want to link this pulse counter to (this device should also exist in the cloud).
Unit of Measure – Specify the unit of measurement (e.g. litres).
Once you've entered the necessary details, click "Update" to apply the configuration.
