How do I enable confirmed mode on an Eastron LoraWAN meter?
What is Confirmed Mode?
Enabling confirmed mode on an Eastron LoRaWAN meter results in uplinks being sent as confirmed uplinks. By default, uplinks are sent unconfirmed. Confirmed uplinks guarantee delivery, as they will be repeatedly sent until the LoRaWAN Network Server (LNS) responds with an acknowledgment.
How do I enable Confirmed Mode?
You can enable confirmed mode by sending the following downlinks, waiting between each downlink to receive an uplink in response.
01 03 00 18 00 02 44 0C
01 10 00 18 00 02 04 44 7A 00 00 C6 2C
01 10 FE 14 00 01 02 00 55 7A B4
Are there any issues enabling Confirmed Mode?
Enabling confirmed mode may result in you receiving the same uplink multiple times if the acknowledgment from the LoRaWAN Network Server (LNS) is not received. If you have a poorly performing LoRaWAN network or LNS, this may result in many uplinks being sent repeatedly.
How do I disable Confirmed Mode?
You can disable confirmed mode by sending the following downlinks, waiting between each downlink to receive an uplink in response.
01 03 00 18 00 02 44 0C
01 10 00 18 00 02 04 44 7A 00 00 C6 2C
01 10 FE 14 00 01 02 00 00 BA 8B
Can I check whether Confirmed Mode is enabled/disabled?
You can check whether confirmed mode is enabled or disabled by sending the following downlink.
01 03 FE 14 00 01 F5 E6
If you receive the following uplink in response, confirmed mode is enabled.
01 03 02 00 55 78 7B
The following uplink response means confirmed mode is disabled.
01 03 02 00 00 B8 44
